ABSTRACT: The article presents an innovative method of manufacturing railway axle using two wedge rolls. The novelty of the solution consists in the simultaneous forming of axle by three pairs of wedges, which allows to significantly shorten the length of tools, leading to a reduction of the diameter of the rolls to an acceptable value. The correctness of the proposed solution was verified by means of numerical simulation. The shape progression of the formed axle, the effective strain, temperature and damage function distributions are presented. It is also shown how the force and torque on the rollers changes during rolling process.
