Advanced Machining Processes of Metallic Materials: Theory, Modelling, and Applications

In 2017 Elsevier republished the book “Advanced Machining Processes of Metallic Materials: Theory, Modeling, and Applications” by prof. W. Grzesik (the first edition was published in 2008). In the second edition the author took care of introducing new content and updating knowledge on machining - both when it comes to theory and modeling of these processes, as well as their practical application in various areas of manufacturing industry.
Basically, the book can be divided into three parts - the first contains the physical basis of the cutting process, and the second and third are devoted to the effects of theoretical and experimental research in modern machining technology and a summary of production benefits in terms of improving the quality of products.
The key issues discussed in the book include: modern tool materials; mechanical, thermal and tribological aspects of the process; computer simulation of various physical phenomena present in the process; chip control; monitoring of the cutting status; progressive and hybrid machining operations and practical actions to improve the machinability of metal materials, as well as generation and modeling of surface integrity.

The book gives the reader an expanded vision of cutting technology, as it explores not only the traditional but also potentially important and developmental use of machining, including: micro- and nano-machining, sensor and vision-assisted machining (basics of digital production 4.0) and machining involving virtual techniques, digital processing and the Internet. Polish readers will get a reliable source of correct terminology in English and an extensive list of literature from various machining departments.

The book has been adapted to the education programs at mechanical faculties and manufacturing engineering // production at various levels, however, due to the innovative and up-to-date content, it is also recommended for PhD students and employees of scientific research units and even experienced engineers.
