How one can properly quantify an individual scientific impact for multi-authored publications based on bibliometric data

Jak można właściwie ocenić indywidualny wkład naukowy w publikacjach wieloautorskich na podstawie danych bibliometrycznych *

Author: Wit Grzesik

Mechanik nr 03/2023 - Różne

ABSTRACT: In this paper some important limits of the h-index related to multi-authored articles and some practical possibilities of the quantification of individual fractions within the authorship are discussed. The idea of two equivalent bibliometrical indexes: hm (co-authorship-adjusted index) and Aw (author suggested, weighted citation index) – was highlighted and some practical examples of their application are given. The data were imported from professional publications in journals of scientometrics and new “World’s TOP 2% Scientists List” in 2021 year.

KEYWORDS: h-index, bibliometrical index

STRESZCZENIE: W artykule omówiono istotne wady stosowania indeksu Hirscha (h-index) w przypadku publikacji wieloautorskich oraz możliwości ustalenia w takich przypadkach udziałów indywidualnych. Wyjaśniono istotę dwóch ekwiwalentnych wskaźników bibliometrycznych: hm i Aw – opartych na średnich i zadeklarowanych/sugerowanych udziałach współautorskich, oraz podano praktyczne przykłady ich wyznaczania. Dane zapożyczono z publikacji naukowych z dziedziny naukometrii i nowej edycji rankingu „World’s TOP 2% Scientists List” za 2021 r.

SŁOWA KLUCZOWE: indeks Hirsha, wskaźnik bibliometryczny
